Rolex Explorer II "Polar", ref. 16570, Z-series, originally sold in February 2013. A classic Rolex sports watch combining functionality, robustness and timeless design with a rich history. The Explorer II was originally developed for adventurers and cave explorers who needed to distinguish between day and night. Reference 16570 represents the slimmer and more traditional generation of the Explorer II, before the model increased to 42mm. The watch measures 40mm and is crafted from stainless steel with the distinctive white Polar dial, black hour markers and iconic red GMT-hand. The fixed steel bezel with its engraved 24-hour scale allows a second time zone to be read, while the date display at 3 o'clock features Cyclops magnification. The watch is equipped with sapphire crystal and the classic stainless steel Oyster bracelet. Inside is the automatic Rolex Calibre 3185, a chronometer-certified GMT movement with an independently adjustable hour hand and a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The additional 24-hour hand and fixed bezel allow two time zones to be tracked simultaneously. The watch is water-resistant to 100 metres.
