Exceptionally rare and highly desirable Patek Philippe Ellipse Jumbo Ref. 3605/1 in 18K white gold, originally sold in 1978. This particular piece, dating from 1977, is one of only 11 known examples and is widely considered one of the most collectable variants of the Ellipse line. The striking cobalt blue sunburst dial with applied white gold hour markers is in outstanding condition and features the original Sigma signature—an additional hallmark of authenticity and rarity. Crafted with a woven white gold bracelet and the largest case size in the Ellipse family at the time, this reference (produced between 1971–1984) stands out for its elegance, proportions, and technical pedigree. The design is based on the golden ratio, a principle used by artists and architects for centuries. The dial's unique coloration is achieved through a complex bluing process on gold, which could not be replicated at scale—adding to the exclusivity of this model. Of particular note is the ultra-thin automatic Calibre 28-255C, the same movement used in the iconic Nautilus 3700, making this Ellipse not only a design marvel but also a mechanical masterpiece. This exceptional watch comes from a private collection and includes its original Patek Philippe box and Extract from the Archives. A truly rare opportunity for the discerning collector.
