Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch “Eyes on the Stars” Snoopy Award, ref. 3578.51.00, originally sold in January 2004. One of the most distinctive and collectible versions of the classic Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. The model was introduced in 2003 as a tribute to NASA’s Silver Snoopy Award, presented to Omega in 1970 for its role during the Apollo 13 mission. Production was limited to 5,441 examples, a number referring to the mission’s total duration of 142 hours, 54 minutes and 41 seconds. The watch retains the familiar Moonwatch design with a 42mm stainless steel case, black dial with three chronograph counters and a black tachymeter bezel. What sets this edition apart is the Snoopy motif at 9 o’clock with the “Eyes on the Stars” inscription incorporated into the small seconds counter. The caseback features a larger Snoopy emblem with the “Eyes on the Stars” inscription, clearly distinguishing the model from the standard Speedmaster Professional. The watch is fitted with its original Omega steel bracelet and Hesalite crystal. Inside is the manually wound Omega Calibre 1861 with approximately 48 hours of power reserve. Calibre 1861 is closely associated with the Speedmaster Professional and continues the architecture of Calibre 861, which was used in Moonwatch models for decades. The combination of the classic Moonwatch construction, the Apollo 13 story and the distinctive Snoopy details has made this first Snoopy edition a particularly notable model within the Speedmaster family.
