Grand Seiko Spring Drive SBGA371 from February 2018. This model is produced in 500 pieces, exclusively for the Japanese market. Long time a watch collectors item, the Grand Seiko has been revered as one of the finest watches Japan produces. Until 2010, obtaining a Grand Seiko proved difficult for many watch collectors, the watch was only available in Japan, necessitating a trip to Japan to purchase one, or turning to the used watch market to secure one themselves. In 2010 that was the 50th anniversary of the Grand Seiko line of watches, Mr. Hattori, Seikos president and CEO, announced that the Grand Seiko line would be released worldwide. The Grand Seiko line is, without a doubt, among the best built watches in the world. The quality, precision and aesthetics is world class. This watch was designed by famous Japanese record producer Mr Yasushi Akimoto for the AJHH, also known as the Japanese Association of Haute Horlogerie. The red 9 signifies the life of the 'salary man' in Japan, who traditionally starts work at 9am, and finishes at 9pm where they then go drinking with the boss to carry favour. All the parts of the watch is produced in-house, by the strictest standards. This SBGA371 is made of steel and measures 39mm Automatic In-house 9R65 Spring Drive movement with approx. 72 hours of power reserve.
